caught!

…again.

For the 3rd time in a span of only a few months, I got ‘caught’ again by the police. This time by the Pasay Police. Allegedly, this time, I made an illegal right turn off of Diosdado Macapagal Ave.

I tried to use my ‘pagka babae’ and pleaded with him to not take my license away. He promised not to but he strongly hinted that he should get something in return since it’s still the christmas season. Haaaaaay! (i was with two friends at the time and i tried hard but my pride wouldn’t let the tears flow)

Anyway, right after we ’settled’ that incident, after we got about a kilometer or two away, out of nowhere and with no warning, my car just…STOPPED. A couple of kind strangers helped us push it to the side but then I had to hire some pedicab drivers to push it all the way home. Good thing we were only a few blocks away. whew.

I don’t know if it was because of the full moon or what but I think the stars and the moons were somehow aligning to say that I should just stay at home.

The odd thing is that when I got home, I wasn’t too bothered by everything that happened. It just felt like a NORMAL day in my life. hahaha! I just hope this isn’t a sign of what’s in store for me in 2008!

oslo

3 M’s to describe Oslo – mahal, malamig, and masarap.

mahal – everything there is really expensive. It gets to a point where you just have to stop trying to calculate how much things would be if it were in Pesos or even USD or else you would not be able to buy anything at all.

malamig – while I was there I think the weather fluctuated from 5 degrees Celsius to negative 8 degrees Celsius…but to me, it was just COLD. If any part of my skin was exposed while I was outdoors, it would begin to hurt after a while. but the cold weather was definitely a nice change and now I think I’m starting to miss it…

masarap – my boss said that if he was asked what I did in Oslo he would say that I ate! :p True, I did spend the entire time trying to eat as much authentic Norwegian food as I could possibly find…I even had Lutefisk! Well, when in Norway, do as the Norwegians do…right?!

Actually, there’s a lot more to say about Oslo…maybe I’ll write more about it someday. By the way, special thanks to the very hospitable Colibrians in Oslo who showed me around!

christmas

It doesn’t feel like it but as two nights ago, there were only 7 days left until Christmas.

The days BEFORE christmas are always better for me than the actual day itself…for many reasons. But this year, it feels like December is just flying by and I haven’t really FELT christmas coming.

I even feel like I’m a bit of a scrooge because I don’t want christmas to come yet…I’m not ready! There are still gifts to buy, friends and family to see, and many other things to do!

I don’t know why I did it just now…but after one sleepless night (while procrastinating on the paper I had to write) I’ve finally upgraded my flickr account to PRO!

Starting Over

I’ve lost control of my old domain name that I used for blogging (miriamsy.com).

The year is almost over, there’s a new year coming and I figured, what the heck, this may just be the perfect time to start over.

I decided that I don’t really need my own domain name and I don’t need my old blog entries to remind me of everything that I’ve experienced and enjoyed in life. So here we go, I’m starting a new blog and thanks to Ryan’s suggestion, I have a new blog name, a semi-new blog platform to play around with, and a new (free) domain to go with it.
